In the past, auto dealerships and fleet managers have contracted with 2-3 guys with a truck and a pressure washer to “rinse wash and dry” their inventory for $2 to $5 per unit. Anyone with a pressure washer and a tank can offer this type of service, which is part of the demise of pressure rinsing. The best providers offer spray-on pre-treatments, and most will either towel or air dry the vehicles. But, the results are often underwhelming, if not catastrophic.
MOST FLEET AND INVENTORY MANAGERS HAVE ENDED THE PRESSURE WASHING SERVICE FOR THE FOLLOWING REASONS.
The pressure wash and rinse process scratches the clear coat finish. Absent an emulsification and lubrication step, pressure of any kind applied to the surface simply blasts dirt and contaminants across the paint. This blasting visibly scratches the clear coat.
There’s no substitute for properly hand washing and drying a vehicle. Pressure washing fails to remove mineral deposits, carbon dust and oil/bio based contaminants that bond to untreated surfaces. Towel drying after improperly “washing” any vehicle adds deeper scratches, and air drying leaves mineral deposits and water spots behind.
The results are underwhelming at best. Dust and pollen are temporarily removed, but the surface is now electrostatically re-charged. This means that any dust, pollen or fallout will be attracted to the surface within hours.
THERE ARE ONLY THREE WAYS TO SAFELY AND EFFECTIVELY WASH A VEHICLE. UNFORTUNATELY, NONE OF THESE METHODS CAN BE DONE FOR LESS THAN $5, EVEN IN HIGH VOLUME “WASH-IN-PLACE” SCENARIOS. HOWEVER, ONE OF THESE PROCESSES CAN BE DONE FOR LESS THAN $10/UNIT, WHILE SOLVING EVERY ONE OF THE ABOVE PROBLEMS.
This new process technology was pioneered by Optimum Polymer Technologies, and their story starts with Dr. David Ghodoussi. “Dr. G”, is the father of modern clear coat finishes and a pioneer in surface maintenance and paint correction. OPT has been developing patented products and processes since 2001, and although OPT products and processes have been widely embraced by high end auto detailers, they are just starting to be adopted by high volume auto detailing service providers. That’s where companies like My Car Butler (MCB) have created a niche in the PA/MD/VA fleet maintenance markets.
MY CAR BUTLER’S VALUE PROPOSITION COVERS ALL THREE AREAS OF CONCERN FOR AUTOMOTIVE DEALERS AND FLEET MANAGERS WHO DEMAND STUNNING RESULTS THAT LAST.
- A Safe and Effective Cleaning Process.
- Durable Shine and Lasting Protection.
- Low Cost, Non-disruptive and Eco Friendly Process.
THE PROCESS AT MY CAR BUTLER REVOLVES AROUND THE POLYMER TECHNOLOGIES, WHICH ALLOWS MCB TO SAFELY AND EFFECTIVELY WASH, DRY, SEAL, POLISH AND ELECTROSTATICALLY DISCHARGE A VEHICLE USING 1/2 GALLON OF WATER… DILUTED INTO LESS THAN $3 OF POLYMER CONCENTRATE. NO SOAPS, SHAMPOOS OR WAX PRODUCTS ARE USED, WHICH MEANS NO RINSING IS REQUIRED AND NO HAZY RESIDUE IS LEFT BEHIND.
Depending on vehicle size, using a 2-person crew, the process takes 10-15 minutes per unit, without the need for trucks, large water tanks or loud equipment. It’s a hands-on process that uses a polymer based, risneless wash solution and a proprietary drying aid with sealants and flouropolymers that discharge the surfaces from electrostatic dust attraction, while producing a high gloss, hydrophobic and terra-phobic surface.
“WHEN IT RAINS ON A TREATED VEHICLE, IT’S LIKE HAVING IT WASHED AGAIN!”
The polymers in the wash solution emulsify dirt, oils and bio contaminants, then rapidly “hydro-encapsulate” the contaminants in the slick, protective solution. It’s a wet, hands-on process, that doesn’t require pressure or running rinse water. The solution, in concert with a soft wiping motion, releases and removes the contaminants from any hard surface, including the paint, glass and plastic trim.
Prior to drying the vehicle with a combination of air and special microfiber drying towels, the drying aid / sealant is sprayed over the vehicle. This sealant contains polymers that effectively discharge the surface, leaving a high gloss, anti-static surface behind.
It is the high gloss results in combination with the anti-static state that more than justifies the cost of the service. All other processes not only scratch the paint, while leaving dirt, residue and spotting behind, they actually static charge the surface, which attracts dust and pollen back on the surfaces. Fleet managers are willing to pay for clean and shiny vehicles, but the results need to last for days and weeks, not just a few hours.
